Octopath Traveler - Forbidden Weapon Locations guide

The Forbidden weapons are a series of weapons that have good stats but a trade off in some form, I will show you where to get each of these and where you can purchase them. They cannot be stolen and have be purchased with Tressa.

They cost around 66-77k each but I suggest save scumming to get a 15-20k discount which is entirely random although Inquire/scrutinize can increase your chances in some towns. 

From what I have seen online some can be found in Therion's purple treasure chests, I do not know the location of the chests. Now includes shield.

The Forbidden Sword - Stonegard

Phys. atk. +310
Speed +120

Attack: occasionally increase the target's Phys. Atk.

Head to the lower level of Stonegard and there will be 3 shops, the man standing outside the centre shop will have the item.

The Forbidden Spear - Quarrycrest
Phys. Atk. +320

Speed -98

Similar to the axe this has a guard that needs to be beaten, in the centre of the lower level of Quarrycrest a man is guarding his house, simply defeat him and gain access. He is slightly easier than the Wellspring fight but he is still quite challenging, He is weak to swords. the save point is nice and close so it's easy to save scum.

The Forbidden Dagger - Stillsnow

Equip: Reduces fire and dark damage dealt

To the far right of the town there is an establishment with a lady inside, she will sell the dagger, she is wearing dancer garb similar to Primrose.

The Forbidden Axe -  Wellspring

This is by far the hardest one to obtain but also the cheapest, you need to defeat a guard with Olberic who is standing outside a house at the north of the town, it is the one to the left of the tavern. He is weak to Spears, can blind and needs 6 hits to be broken. 

The Forbidden Bow - Goldshore

Equip: Increases the chance of encountering enemies

In the first section of Goldshore, there will be a bridge leading toward the second part of town, simply purchase from the woman standing on the bridge.

The Forbidden Staff - Saintsbridge

Critical -50

Head to the Cathedral and there will be a Cleric on the right hand side just as you walk in. there is also a Holy bow that you can steal on the man to the left behind the pillars of the screenshot.

The Forbidden Shield - Grandport

Evasion -171 

At the back of the second screen of Grandport you will find a merchant standing on his own to the left of the colloseum looking building. He will sell the Forbidden shield for 55k, make sure to head into the building and pick up Smarter Bartering from the woman on the right first though.
